EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – The Giants announced they have signed eight players, including six who were with them in training camp and were waived on Saturday, to their practice squad.

The group includes two of their 2009 draft choices, quarterback Rhett Bomar (fifth round) and cornerback DeAndre Wright (sixth). Also on the squad are running back Allen Patrick, safeties Vince Anderson and Sha’reff Rashad, and defensive tackle Anthony Bryant.

The newcomers are fullback Nehemiah Broughton and tight end Kareem Brown.

Broughton, who was waived Saturday by the Minnesota Vikings, spent the entire 2008 season on the Washington Redskins’ practice squad. He was on injured reserve in 2007 after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL. Broughton entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft choice of the Redskins in 2005. He played in four games that season and two in 2006, including one against the Giants on Dec. 30.

Broughton was with the Carolina Panthers between Jan. 15 and March 17 this year and was signed by the Vikings on May 18. He played college football at The Citadel.

Brown was waived Saturday by the Jets. He had three receptions for 25 yards this preseason, including a five-yarder vs. the Giants on Aug. 29.

Brown, a product of the University of Miami, was a fourth-round draft choice by the New England Patriots in 2007. He was waived on Nov. 27 and awarded the following day to the Jets. Brown played in the Jets’ game vs. Kansas City on Dec. 30 of that season.

Last year, Brown was waived on Nov. 1 and signed to the Jets’ practice squad three days later. He was signed to the roster when the season ended.
